President visits DCM

On Tuesday 19th December 2017 we were honoured to welcome the President, Michael D Higgins to Abbey Street.

During his visit the President met with representatives from across Dublin Cental Mission.  When speaking to the assembled group, the President paid tribute to the longevity of the Methodist presence and their social action projects in Dublin.

He spoke about the challenges of showing human compassion to those who are vulnerable and sustaining community in urban areas. He especially wanted to communicate his deep gratitude to the church community and the many volunteers who show care and concern to those most in need in the city.

In speaking about those who benefit from the outreach work in Abbey Street, the President likened the warm embrace of the Mission to being "an ally in a process of transformation".

He met and brought warm greetings to staff and residents of the Nursing Home and Sheltered Housing.
