I have always thought of Ailt an Óir as an ideal place for Senior Citizens to live. We all have our own apartments and enjoy lunch five days each week. Seating arrangements for lunch change regularly to encourage new friendships. People with varied religious connections and none are all equally welcome. Prayer meetings and worship services cater for those who value them. Weekly meetings cater for interests such as bowling, knitting, bridge and films. We are all welcome (but under no pressure) to attend. Small coaches bring residents to Dun Laoghaire three mornings each week. Of the 48 apartments only four are not on the ground floor. Most have doors into the grounds so we are able to come and go. We just let staff know if we will be away overnight or out for lunch. Staff are always on duty if anyone needs help and they can be contacted from each apartment. Excursions by coach to places of interest bring together the residents in Margaretholme and Ailt an Óir, always very enjoyable!
